Program Director

The Mission: The mission of Oasis Community Corporation is to support children in their social, emotional, and academic development by providing them with enriching, community-based after-school programs. Our goal is to help children become more confident, more responsible, and more involved in the world around them.

Program Description: Oasis after school programs provide young people with snack, homework help, creative learning activities, and recreational and educational games. Oasis emphasizes low ratios of adults to children, creative staffing and programming, and a staff training strategy that enables our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the students in their care.

Primary Function: The primary role of the Program Director is to ensure that the program is safe, enriching, and fun and that Oasis’s goals for children are being realized.

Organizational Role
Minimum Hours: M-F, School Days, 1:00 – 6:00, Sept. – June
Peer relationship: Other Program Directors
Supervises: All Program Staff

Job Responsibilities
· Supervise all program staff
· Ensure compliance with all DOH and host school procedures
· Responsible for collecting parent fees in coordination with Oasis Fiscal Department
· Liaison with host site staff and meet regularly with designated school staff members such as custodians, PTA representatives and principals to ensure that the program is in-line with established goals
· Interface with stakeholders and other important visitors to tell them about the program, introduce them to students and staff and lead a tour of the program
· Keep all required administrative records and files according to program requirements and applicable regulations
· Keep attendance records
· Must attend mandatory meetings at headquarters and submit monthly financial reports
· Ensure that all staff have received and reviewed the Policy and Procedure Manual
· Run regular staff meetings
· Hire/fire program staff
· Support the curriculum development process
· Liaison with parents
· Ensure that schedule is followed
· Initiate and organize functions such as performances, exhibitions, field days, etc.
· Initiate and organize community service and leadership opportunities for students as appropriate
· Submit monthly fiscal reports to Oasis Fiscal Department
· Report staff hours to payroll officer on a bi-weekly basis
· Oversee the ordering and maintenance of materials
· Attend and/or lead professional development activities which may, on occasion, take place outside of regular hours.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have a college degree, at least four years experience in an academic/recreation setting with children, and at least two years supervisory experience. Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to children. Must be willing to learn and implement new strategies to inspire students to be positive, thoughtful, and motivated to work hard and take risks. The ability to inspire positive teamwork, initiate and follow-thorough with minimal supervision, work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and balance competing deadlines a must. Impeccable references are a must. A Masters level degree in a related field is a plus.
