Funded After-School Program Director

The Mission: The mission of Oasis Community Corporation is to support children in their social, emotional, and academic development by providing them with enriching, community-based after-school programs. Our goal is to help children become more confident, more responsible, and more involved in the world around them.

Program Description: Oasis after-school programs provide young people with homework help, snack, creative learning activities, and recreational and educational games. Oasis emphasizes creative curriculum development, staffing and programming, low ratios of adults to children, and a staff training strategy that enables our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care.

Primary Function: The role of the Program Director is to ensure that the program runs safely and smoothly, and that Oasis’ goals for children are being realized.

Organizational Role
Minimum Hours: 1:00 – 6:00
Reports to: Brooklyn Senior Program Director Peer relationship: Other Program Directors
Supervises: Program Instructors and Group Leaders

Job Responsibilities
· Supervise all program staff
· Liaison with host school staff
· Ensure compliance with all DOH procedures, maintain fire safety plans are on site, and train staff in procedures
· Keep attendance records, maintain designated enrollment numbers, and maintain database
· Ensure that all staff have received and reviewed the Personnel Policy and Procedure Manual
· Facilitate weekly staff meetings and monthly trainings
· Support the curriculum development process
· Initiate and organize functions such as performances, exhibitions, and field days
· Initiate and organize community service and leadership opportunities for students as appropriate
· Must attend weekly meetings at headquarters, which may occur before or after program hours
· Ensure that program activity schedule is followed
· Submit monthly financial reports to Oasis Fiscal Department
· Report staff hours to Senior Program Director and Oasis Fiscal Department on a bi-weekly basis
· Oversee the ordering and maintenance of materials
· Collect and review Instructors and group leaders’ lesson plans.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have a college degree, at least four years experience in an academic/recreation setting with children and at least three years supervisory experience. Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to children and especially children at risk of academic failure. Must be willing to learn and implement new strategies to inspire students to be positive, thoughtful, and motivated to work hard and take risks. The ability to inspire positive teamwork, initiate and follow-through with minimal supervision, work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and balance competing deadlines a must. Impeccable references are a must.
